Who can use Tauria?

Anyone with access to Chrome, Edge, Opera or Brave browser can use Tauria on desktop and mobile. Tauria is available for free, and users can use many built-in features, including group watch and Youtube streaming. The free plan has a 60 minutes maximum call time.

For users who wish to host unlimited call time, Tauria offers a Pro plan that provides additional features such as end-2-end encryption, polling, passcode and waiting room.

How do I start a call?

Tauria can be launched any time on your browser. Simply open the Tauria browser app (app.tauria.com) and click on the ‘Start video call’ button.

Alternatively, you can create a room to have a reusable call link that you can join at anytime.

To invite others to join your call, simply copy the unique link in the room card and share it with whomever you’d like to invite to the call.

What features does Tauria offer?

Most features of Tauria can be found on the control bar at the bottom of the screen:

The controls seen here are as follows (from left to right):

  • Mute - Mutes or unmutes your microphone audio during the call. Clicking the “up” arrow in the corner of the mute button displays additional microphone options.
  • Camera - Toggles your camera on/off during the call. Clicking the “up” arrow in the corner of the camera button allows you to swap between the different cameras on your device (if available).
  • Share Screen - Allows you to start or stop screen sharing from your device.
  • Chat - Opens or closes the on-screen chat window. Messages can be sent and received during the call in the chat window and are retained until the call is ended, even if the chat window is closed.
  • Raise Hand - Allows you get the attention of other users on the call without having to interrupt the current speaker. Clicking this button will display a “hand” icon in your Tauria window until you click the button again.
  • Participants - Displays a side panel with all users currently on the call.
  • Toggle Tile View - Swaps between the different panels/user tiles you’re currently viewing.

Clicking the Advanced Actions button opens a new menu with additional options and settings. Note that there are additional options available to the Call owner than there are for participants of the call.

Advanced actions for call participants :

  • Performance settings - Adjust the display quality of the video call.
  • View full screen - Enable/disable full screen mode for the call.
  • Share video - Allows users to share an embedded Youtube video for all participants to view directly in the call window. Note that when a video is being shared, returning to this same menu option now shows Stop video which you can use to close and stop the embedded video from playing.'
  • Share audio - Allows you to play audio content for all participants in the call from your device, a particular app/window or an open tab in your browser.
  • Select Background - Change the background displayed in your video tile.
  • Show speaker stats - Shows the ping of all participants in the call.
  • Settings - Opens panel to adjust additional settings (see below).
  • View Shortcuts - Displays list of available shortcuts one can use during the call.
  • Leave meeting - Disconnect from the call.
  • Open Shared Whiteboard (PRO) - Opens a collaborative whiteboard that allows conference participants to draw or take notes simultaneously on a large virtual board. (how-to-open-whiteboard)

Additional options for Call owner:

  • Security options - Adjust specific security settings for the call, including:
  • Enable Lobby (PRO) - “Lobby mode” lets you protect your meeting by only allowing people to enter after a formal approval by a moderator. (how-to-enable-lobby)
  • Set Passcode (PRO) - Allows you to add a passcode to your meeting that participants will need to provide before they are allowed to join the meeting. (how-to-set-password)
  • Share video - Allows users to share an embedded Youtube video for all participants to view directly in the call window. Note that when a video is being shared, returning to this same menu option now shows Stop video which you can use to close and stop the embedded video from playing. (how-to-share-youtube-video)
  • Start recording (PRO) - Allows you to start/stop recording both audio and video from the call for later viewing. (how-to-record)
  • Mute everyone - Mutes all call participants.
  • Disable everyone’s camera - Disables all call participant’s cameras.
  • Start Live Stream (PRO) - Allows you to connect to Youtube live stream or to a RTMP server. For Youtube you can just paste the youtube live stream key. For RTMP you need to paste the full RTMP url containing the RTMP key/password. (how-to-live-stream)

    *This option will not work properly if using an End-to-End Encrypted Conference Room.

Additional Settings

  • Devices - Allows you to select which microphone and camera you want to use for the call, as well as where audio from the call will output.
  • Profile - Change your display name, as well as set your gravatar email.
  • Moderator - Moderator controls to choose
    • Everyone starts muted ( audio off )
    • Everyone starts hidden (camera off)
    • Everyone follows moderator (all the other guests will see what you see, so if you pin someone/yourself, use tile view, all this will reflect at what the other guests are seeing)
  • Sounds - Choose whether specific sounds in Tauria will play.
  • More - Adjust additional settings such as:

    Enable/disable pre-meeting screen
    • Enable/disable keyboard shortcuts
    • Choose display language
    • Set desktop sharing frame rate

How to install Tauria’s PWA?

1.1 Using Google Chrome

For installing Tauria’s PWA, follow these easy steps.

Step 1: Access your workspace at Tauria.

Step 2: After logging into your Tauria workspace, click the icon highlighted in your search bar. An installation confirmation should appear. Finally confirm the installation.

Step 3: A new Tauria workspace window should appear, as well as a shortcut icon on your desktop.

Step 4: Upon entering a room, a new window should pop up. Now you can use the safest video conferencing directly from your desktop.

1.2 Using Microsoft Edge

For installing Tauria’s PWA, follow these easy steps.

Step 1: Access your workspace at Tauria.

Step 2:  After logging into your Tauria workspace, click the icon highlighted in you search bar. Press “Install”.

Step 3: A new Tauria workspace window should appear, as well as a shortcut icon on your desktop.

Step 4:  Upon entering a room, a new window should pop up. Now you can use the safest video conferencing directly from your desktop.

1.3 Using Android

For installing Tauria’s PWA, follow these easy steps.

Step 1: Access Tauria using the browser on your android device.

Step 2:  After logging in, wait a few seconds, a notification suggesting the installation of Tauria app should appear in the lower corner.

Step 3:  Click “Install”, a Tauria’s icon should be added to your screen.

Step 4: Access the Tauria app through your home screen.

Step 5: With the application installed, just access it from the home screen and use it normally to make your calls.

1.4 Using iOS

For installing Tauria’s PWA, follow these easy steps.

Step 1: login on Tauria using the Safari browser.

Step 2: Click on the share icon highlighted in green. Click on "Add to home screen" and press "Add"

Step 3: Access the Tauria app through your home screen.

Step 4: Login again and you're done! Now you can use Tauria via app on your iOS.

How to Schedule Meetings

Step 1: Sign up with your Google Account option to have access to your Google Calendar while scheduling.

Please note that TAURIA has integration only with Google Calendar currently, with new integrations being added progressively.

Step 2: Select the "Schedule" option on the left options bar on the left of the screen and click  "+ Schedule event".

Step 3: Write the event's name, and choose the day and time for starting and ending.

Step 4: Click on "+ add room link" to create the link for the call, write a description of the call if you like, and submit the participants' email addresses.

Step 5:  Your call will be scheduled.
